Natural gas consumption in Belarus decreased by billions of cubic meters
In 6 months of 2023, 17 billion cubic meters of natural gas were used in Belarus. This is 15% less natural gas than in the same period last year, Sputnik reported.
The main reason for the decrease in consumption was the launch of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. After the inclusion of the first power unit into the power system, in November 2020, electricity from the station replaced about 5 billion cubic meters of gas. The second block was also launched recently. Accordingly, the capacity of the NPP has increased by 2 times.
