New Minsk metro stations will accept contactless payments

The stations of the third line of the Minsk metro were equipped with turnstiles with a payment system with bank cards and gadgets. “Turnstiles with validators are installed at all stations”, said BPS-Sberbank, which is implementing a transport project.

“Bank cards and devices connected with them are now used to pay for about 12% of trips to the metro, while in September the number of such transactions has grown by almost a third compared to the previous month. In total, during the operation of the service in the metro, more than 40 million payments were made with it. Taking into account such interest, we together with our partners – the Minsk metro – have connected the necessary equipment at all stations of the third line for quick and comfortable payments", said Marina Osipovskaya, Executive Director of BPS-Sberbank.

You can pay for a trip by one touch in all stations of the new line: the technology has become available at the metro stations Kovalskaya Sloboda, Vokzalnaya, Ploshchad Frantishka Bogushevich and Yubileinaya Ploshchad. in order to pay, you should attach the payment device to the validator on the surface of the turnstile and wait for the sound signal. The price for a metro ride (0,7 BYN) will be automatically debited from the card. Payment takes only 0.3 seconds.

The service is "open". It means that for payments you can use contactless cards of international payment systems – Visa, Mastercard and Belcard with a contactless interface. In addition, you can use your smartphone and other NFC-enabled devices for payments.

You can study the history of travel and expenses in the personal account of the passenger on the website paybycard.by in the section "Personal account of the passenger". There you can find information about the history of your trips, clarify the status of your bank card in the system and receive an electronic card-check for debiting.

The project is being implemented by the bank together with the Minsk Metro, IBA Group and Visa and Mastercard payment systems. Contactless payments with bank cards and gadgets are also available in Minsk trams on route 6 and trains of city lines of the Belarusian Railway. In September, the bank launched the Apple Express service, which allows you to pay for metro with Apple devices without the usual authentication. The implementation of the transport project is carried out without investments from the state budget and means of transport organizations.
