New park will appear in the center of Minsk on Svisloch River

A new multifunctional city park with nature reserves and sports grounds will appear in the center of Minsk in the Svisloch floodplain. The park will be equipped by 2030, CityDog.io writes. We remind you that this weekend a city picnic will be held in the Minsk Botanical Garden.

The park project has already been confirmed. Its total area will be 60 hectares. It will be located within the boundaries of the Majakoŭskaha, Aranskaya and Dzianisauskaja streets. About half of it will be occupied by a reservoir. Two islands will be planted on the reservoir to preserve the valuable plant species found there. It will be a specially protected area, closed to the public. Bridges will connect both banks of the river.

The plan is going to be implemented in two stages. The first one will last until 2030. During this time, they want to build a fast food restaurant and improve the surrounding area: reconstruct a technical bridge with a pipeline and erect a pedestrian one. And also perform ecological reconstruction on the islands of the reservoir.

After 2030, part of the development near the park will be demolished and the right bank of the river will be equipped. There will also be a walking area, children's and sports grounds, public toilets and more on the territory of the park.
