New resident at the Minsk Zoo
Minsk Zoo has added an exotic animal to its collection, tut.by reports. The capybara is the largest rodent with a great love for water, for which it received the name "water pig".
The exotic rodent is a relative of our mice and rats. It looks like a large guinea pig with small eyes and small rounded ears. The body length of these rodents is 1-1.35 meters, the height at the withers is 40-60 centimeters, the weight is 34-65 kilograms. The capybara has a fairly long and stiff fur. On the front paws there are 4 fingers, on the back - 3, the fingers are connected by a swimming membrane and end in short, but powerful claws.
The animal was brought to the zoo from Krasnoyarsk and settled in a spacious enclosure with a swimming pool in the pavilion of the Exotarium. These rodents are kind by nature and can safely stay in an aviary with various animals. Therefore, the animal became a new neighbor for red-eared turtles and Macaws.
In the zoo, the capybara has already been given a name – Capybarin.
You can already get to know the Capybarin better in the Minsk Zoo and see how the animal dives, swims and splashes in the water.
