New technologies in pediatric cardiac surgery
Children's cardiac surgeons have introduced a number of new innovative technologies into practice, belta.by reports.
Dmitry Lazar, Head of the Department of Medical Care for Mothers and Children of the Ministry of Health, said that the RSPC of Children's Surgery performed the OZAKI operation.
OZAKI is an operation to replace the aortic valve with tissue borrowed from the tissue that surrounds the heart. After the operation, the recovery takes place at the expense of the person's own cells. That is, the patient is a donor to himself and the survival of the tissues is much better.
This operation was successfully performed on two patients – at the age of 1 month and 7 years.
Last year, pediatric cardiac surgeons performed for the first time an operation that was performed only a few times in world practice - implantation of the transcatheter valve of the Melody pulmonary artery into the native tricuspid valve for a 13-year-old patient with a complex congenital heart defect with the development of progressive insufficiency and tricuspid valve stenosis.
