New traffic rules for electric scooters and bicycles
The updated Road Rules in Belarus have changed the requirements for riding electric scooters and bicycles.
On an electric scooter, you need to move along bicycle paths. If there is no bike path, traffic is allowed on sidewalks, pedestrian paths or roadsides. You cannot ride an electric scooter while intoxicated. It is forbidden to transport passengers if there is no special seat on the device. The maximum speed of the electric scooter should not exceed 25 km/h. In the dark, there should be a headlight on the electric scooter, and a reflective element on a rider.
According to the new road rules, it is possible to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing riding a bicycle (no need to dismount). Also, a cyclist can ride on the roadway no further than 1 meter from the edge, even if there is a bike path or sidewalk. In winter, cyclists can ride in conditions of snowfall or ice.
