People vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to become anti-covid plasma donors
Belarusians vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to become donors of anti-covid plasma in the future. To do this, after the introduction of the second component of the vaccine, a month should pass, belta.by reports.
The corresponding changes are already being made to the order of the Ministry of Health of Belarus. This information was shared by the director of the RNPC of Transfusiology and Medical Biotechnologies, the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health in transfusiology Fyodor Karpenko.
Vaccinated plasma donors have advantages: these people are healthy, their virus-neutralizing antibodies are most effective both in plasma transfusion and in the production of immunoglobulin.
You can donate plasma a month after vaccination. During this time, enough IgG class antibodies will be produced.
WHO recommends plasma transfusions from recovered donors as a treatment for covid. The Belarusian blood service has already prepared more than 4 tons of such plasma, and has already performed more than 4.5 thousand transfusions.
