Presidential election dates in Belarus

Presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus will be held on the 9th of August, 2020, reports tut.by. Currently, four candidates have been announced.

On the 8th of May, an extraordinary meeting of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Belarus took place. The meeting held a vote on the date of the presidential election in 2020. The deadline for the elections was the 30th of August, but the majority voted on the 9th of August.

In the republican budget, 36.8 million rubles were taken for the elections.

Deputy Oleg Gaidukevich, blogger Sergey Tikhanovsky, chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party Gramada Sergey Cherechen already announced their intentions to take part in the presidential election 2020. In addition, the current President of the Republic of Belarus announced his desire to participate in the elections. If Alexander Lukashenko takes part in the presidential elections this year, this will be the sixth election campaign of the President.
