Railway from Minsk to the airport
Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 165 "On the design of high-speed passenger railway communication". Among other things, it provides that in 2021-2023, project documentation will be prepared for a high-speed passenger service between Minsk and the airport, onliner.by reports.
According to the project, it is planned to build the third main track of the railway along the two existing ones on the section from Stepyanka to Gorodishche. To do this, they will expand bridges and overpasses, lengthen water pipes. From the Settlement to the National Airport, a single-track railway section (18 km long) will be laid along the M2 highway. They will build overpasses, a bridge over the Usha River, and culverts. There will also be a new stop point — "The Great Stone Industrial Park".
It is planned that the new route will take half an hour to get from Minsk to the airport, and the length of the entire route will be 41.8 km.
