Restaurants will be banned from using plastic dishes

From January 2021, a new rule has been introduced throughout Belarus, according to which restaurants and cafes of the country are prohibited from using plastic dishes, relax.by reports.

These measures were taken in order to reduce the consumption of disposable plastic tableware. The new rule should speak positively on the environment and climate. Restaurants are encouraged to use paper dishes and other ecological packaging instead.

On the list of prohibited plastic tableware:

• sticks for stirring drinks

• glasses

• plates

• straws for drinks

• packaging for food products (containers, bottles), excluding packaging for confectionery

• cups.

These measures are also explained by the fact that the country imposes increased sanitary measures on public places in connection with the spread of the coronavirus in Belarus.
