Sabalenka in the final of the WTA-500 tournament in Stuttgart

Sabalenka in the final of the WTA-500 tournament in Stuttgart

Belarusian tennis star and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has secured a spot in the final of the prestigious WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart, Sputnik notifies.

She’ll face Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, currently ranked 24th in the world, in the title match.

Sabalenka cruised past Belgium’s Elise Mertens and Italy’s Jasmine Paolini on her way to the final. Her quarterfinal against Russia’s Anastasia Potapova ended early after the latter withdrew due to injury.

This marks Sabalenka’s fourth consecutive final in Stuttgart — she came up short in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Now, she has another shot at claiming the trophy. Alongside the nearly $1 million prize pool, the champion will also drive away in a Porsche Macan Turbo, the tournament’s iconic grand prize.
