Sabalenka is the ITF World champion for the first time

Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has been named the world champion by the International Tennis Federation ITF, Sputnik reported.

In 2023, she won the Australian Open for the first time in her career. In addition, during the season she reached the finals of the US Open, the semifinals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Sabalenka also topped the WTA ranking in September, currently she is in second position.

The ITF stressed that the tennis player showed stable results throughout the season, her decline occurred only at the end of the year.
