Sales of new cars fell by 10 times in Belarus

Sales of new cars in September fell by 10 times compared to September 2021, Sputnik reported. Let us remind you that tariffs for charging electric cars have risen since October.

The main reason is the closure of factories in Russia. Dealers note that there have been no new deliveries since March and this year they are unlikely to be. The cars shipped before March are almost sold out.

In September, car dealerships sold only 374 new cars. This is 90.4% less than in last September. In total, more than 12 thousand new cars have been sold since the beginning of 2022.

The Belarusian Automobile Association notes that the largest share of sales of new or low-mileage cars is accounted for by parallel imports. These machines are purchased not from an official importer, but in other countries, and are brought to Belarus via new logistics routes and with different pricing.

The most popular car brands among Belarusians over the past few months are the Russian LADA and the Belarusian Geely.
