Shimanovic and Avanesyan started with a victory in the doubles of the Australian Open

Irina Shimanovich and Elina Avanesyan demonstrated an impressive game at the first stage of the Australian Open doubles, BelTA writes,

The athletes defeated the Ukrainian-American tandem Nadezhda Kichenok / Danielle Collins with a score 2:6, 6:4, 6:1. This successful start sent the Belarusian-Russian duo to the next round, where they will meet with the Russian-Spanish couple Alexander Panov / Kristina Bucha.

In singles, world number two Arina Sobolenko is preparing for the next challenge, meeting with Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko in the 1/16 finals, after defeating Italian Camila Giorgi at the start of the competition. Victoria Azarenka is also expected to fight with Denmark's Clara Towson in the second stage of the singles.
