Swiss Embassy opened in Minsk

Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei and head of the Federal Department of foreign Affairs of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis opened the Swiss Embassy in Minsk today in a solemn ceremony, reports belta.by.

In connection with the intensification of bilateral cooperation, the Swiss Federal Council decided in may 2019 to increase the level of diplomatic representation in Belarus. Since September, Claude Altermatt, the first Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Belarus in the history of bilateral relations, has been working in Minsk.

The Embassy is located at 11 Freedom square. Until now, a branch of the Swiss Embassy has been operating here.
