The air in Minsk gets cleaner

In recent years, the air quality and the general environmental situation in Minsk have been improving, Sputnik reported. For example, sanitary norms are violated only in 8% of the city territory.

In 2022, the emission of harmful substances into the city's air decreased by 13%. This was achieved thanks to the use of new technologies and treatment facilities.

The weather affects the air quality negatively, especially the wind, which raises dust, and in winter the anti-icing reagents used are harmful.

According to the chief ecologist of Minsk, 80% of emissions of harmful substances into the atmospheric air are produced by cars. However, the city is working to reduce air pollution.
