The authorities allowed Duty Free shops to be opened at the entrance to the country at every car checkpoint

The first Duty Free store at the entrance to Belarus, at the «Berestovitsa» road checkpoint, opened in June 2018. The store was opened as an experiment, duty-free goods can be bought by those who enter the territory of the EEU, reports tut.by.

The fact that Belarus intends to expand the chain of Duty Free stores was reported on September 24 at a meeting with the President on the development of duty-free trade. 

The authorities allowed Duty Free shops to be opened at the entrance to the country at every car checkpoint. This is provided for by presidential decree No. 476. No more than one duty-free shop can be placed at one road checkpoint at the entrance.

In addition, there are special requirements for cash register equipment in duty-free shops for entry to ensure the blocking of sales of alcoholic beverages and beer, tobacco and tobacco products in excess of quantitative norms, under which goods for personal use are imported into the customs territory of the EEU without paying customs duties and taxes.
