The Belarusian COVID-19 vaccine will be tested on humans in 2022

The Belarusian vaccine against COVID-19 will be tested on humans in the first half of 2022. This statement was made on October 21 on the air of the Mir TV channel by the director of the Institute of Biophysics and Cellular Engineering of the NAS Andrey Goncharov, minsknews.by reports.

According to him, laboratory tests have already been passed, the results are not bad.

"Preliminary preclinical studies are currently underway. Full-fledged preclinical studies will begin next year, and now preliminary ones are to select strains to establish that the vaccine is non-toxic and does not cause the death of animals" - Goncharov said. He added that all the animals are alive after the studies, although they were given different doses, including large ones.

Human trials are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2022.

The director of the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering said that the Belarusian vaccine will be inactivated one-component, but two injections will be required for its introduction. "Just like the Chinese vaccine. The same component will be introduced at intervals of 1-2 months" - Goncharov explained.

The production will be handled by "Belvitunifarm" and "Belmedpreparaty".

The first wholesale batch of the vaccine is expected in 2022.
