The Chinese coronavirus was given a name

According to, the world health organization has named the new coronavirus- COVID-19, said General Director Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus at a briefing in Geneva on February 11.

"Now we have the name of the disease. This is COVID-19," he said. COVID-19 is an abbreviation of the words Corona Virus Disease ("disease caused by a coronavirus") and the year the virus appeared. 

The General Director said that these days the organization is discussing the situation with the coronavirus with 400 scientists from all over the world.
