The combined electricity market of Belarus and Russia will operate from January 1, 2024, minsknews.by reports.
The Minister of Energy of Belarus Viktor Karankevich said that an agreement on the formation of a unified market within the framework of the Union State is already being developed, in particular, the mode of joint work, interaction of sellers and buyers, infrastructure issues are being worked out.
The creation of a single electricity market of the two countries is provided for by the Union program within the framework of the Union State, the decree on which was signed by Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin.
The united electric energy market of the Union State will start operating from January 1, 2024. From this moment, the mechanism of trade between authorized organizations of Russia and Belarus will begin to operate.
The Minister of Energy added that from 2027 it is planned to move to deeper integration, assuming a convergence of business conditions for market participants.
