The euro was excluded from Belarus' currency basket
The National Bank of Belarus excludes the euro from the currency basket from December 12, Sputnik reported. It is still possible to buy euros at exchange offices. Exclusion from the basket of currencies will only affect the price of the euro relative to the Belarusian ruble.
The National Bank explained that recently, against the background of a reduction in trade turnover with the countries of the European Union, settlements in euros have decreased. At the same time, trade turnover with Russia and China has increased.
The structure of the currency basket will look like this:
- the share of the Russian ruble is 60%
- the share of the US dollar is 30%
- the share of the yuan is 10%
Euro trading on the stock exchange will continue, and the official exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble to the euro will be set based on information about the cross-rate of the euro to the dollar on international financial markets.
