The European Union will help Belarus in the fight against coronavirus

The European Union has decided to donate 140 million euros to the countries of the Eastern Partnership, including Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Moldova, to prevent the spread of coronavirus, reports tut.by.

The donated funds will be distributed between the health care systems of these six countries and will go for purchasing the necessary medical equipment, medicines and personal protective equipment. Moreover, the part of the funds will be used for training medical personnel and raising the level of public awareness. The European Union draws attention to the fact that in the fight against COVID-19, it is necessary both to take measures inside the European Union and to support neighbouring countries.

Furthermore, the European Commission will provide an additional 700 million euros to help overcome the economic consequences of the pandemic and support small and medium enterprises.
