The first cases of infection with the omicron strain have been recorded in Belarus

The first cases of coronavirus infection with the omicron strain have been officially identified in Belarus. It was found in four people, belta.by reports.

"These are the first confirmed cases of infection with a new strain in the Republic of Belarus. All patients have a mild course of infection" - the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.

The strain "omicron" is characterized by higher contagiousness in comparison with other variants of the virus.

In just one day, 1,493 patients with COVID-19 were registered in Belarus, 1,699 people were discharged.
