The first power unit of BelNPP is connected to the grid
On March 8 at 02.14 the first power unit of the BelNPP was connected to the grid, tut.by reports. The next step is to increase the power level of the reactor plant.
Earlier, the first power unit of the BelNPP was disconnected from the network for scheduled tests. Despite the resumption of connection, testing of systems and equipment of the first unit, as well as routine maintenance, will continue at the station. At the moment, out of 394 planned tests, 259 have been successfully completed.
Also, on March 7, the workers of the power plant started loading simulators of fuel assemblies (ITVS) into the reactor of the second power unit of the Belarusian NPP.
This process will be a sort of rehearsal for loading nuclear fuel into the reactor. The procedure will also include the development of transport and technological operations to move ITVS from a special fresh fuel storage facility to the reactor building. After that, it will be necessary to obtain confirmation of the readiness of the reloading machine.
The simulators are an exact copy of fuel assemblies, completely repeat their design in terms of weight, size, and materials, but do not contain nuclear fuel.
