The first study on the Belarusian primer was presented in Belarus

The presentation of the first Belarusian monograph devoted to the study of the Belarusian primer was held on February 8 in the National Library of Belarus, the Minsk-News agency writes.

The book contains the history of Belarusian abecedariums for more than 400 years. There are 730 illustrations, they show Belarusian ABC books in different epochs of printing from the XVII century to the present day.

The research covers the historical period from the beginning of the release of the first primer in the Belarusian language in 1618. The information was collected in state archives and museums, as well as in private collections of Belarus, Czech Republic, Sweden, France, Great Britain, Ukraine, Slovenia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, USA, Denmark, Italy, Ireland, Austria, Germany and Russia.

The author of the monograph is a book critic, Deputy Director General of the National Library and Candidate of Cultural Studies Alexander Susha. He has devoted almost 10 years to research.
