The Head of EU Delegation in Minsk will not attend Victory Day parade
The head of the EU Delegation in Minsk, Dirk Schuebel, refused to participate in the parade on the 9th of May in connection with the pandemic, reports tut.by.
The European External Action Service in Brussels instructed all diplomats of European Union to refrain from attending public events in connection with the spread of coronavirus. For this reason, when at the beginning of the week the Head of the EU Delegation in Minsk received an invitation to the parade, he had to refuse due to the epidemiological situation in Belarus.
Similar instructions had previously been received from the World Health Organization. WHO emphasized the importance of maintaining the social distance of people.
Nevertheless, many heads of diplomatic missions of the European Union countries and the European Union ambassador to Belarus volunteered to visit one of the memorials on their own to honour the memory of the victims of World War II
