The head of the European Council cannot contact Lukashenko

An extraordinary meeting of the Committee on foreign affairs was held in the European Parliament, reports tut.by. During the meeting, the parliamentarians shared their positions on the introduction of sanctions against the Belarusian authorities.

At the meeting, the parliamentarians were informed that the head of the European Council tried to establish contact with Alexander Lukashenko, however, without result.

The question of imposing sanctions has still remained open. This week, the ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union members will discuss the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Belarusian authorities.

It was also noted during the meeting that the European Union opposes external interference in the political affairs of Belarus and the violation of the country's sovereignty. However, the Polish deputy noted that such interference is already being carried out by Russia, which has sent its journalists and military advisers to help the Belarusian authorities.
