The hedgehog Spike has become a symbol of the hockey world Cup, which will be held in Minsk and Riga. The jury made a choice from more than 100 works submitted for the competition, reports ej.by.

The Belarusian-Latvian jury included Dynamo Minsk coach Mikhail Grabovsky, Olympic Champions Daria Domracheva and Anna Guskova, Belarusfilm CEO Vladimir Karachevsky, heads of national ice hockey federations Gennady Savilov and Aigars Kalvitis, Latvian TV presenters and other well-known personalities. A vote for the audience award was also organized.

Nikita Ustinovich, head of the DAB creative Agency, explained that the image of the hedgehog is perfect for both teams: "hard-working, fast, agile, able to fight back at the right time in the sports arena."

Belarus and Latvia will jointly host the ice hockey world Cup from may 7 to 23, 2021. The matches will be held in the capitals of both countries.
