The Minister of Education named the optimal age for first graders

The Minister of Education is convinced that the optimal age for admission of a child to the first grade of school is six or seven years, Minsk-News reported. Now admission to the first grade is possible from the age of five.

The Minister of Education noted that the desire of parents to send a child at the age of five in school is not enough. This requires compliance with special conditions. The pedagogical council in the presence of a medical certificate should make the decision, if the child turns six years old during the current study year.

The Minister also said that the physical and psychological readiness of children is much more important. For this reason, the optimal age for a first grader is six, and preferably seven.
