The most popular payment method in the Minsk metro is a contactless travel card

In 2021, the most popular method of payment in the Minsk subway was a contactless travel card, the Minsk-News agency writes.

In Minsk, 226.3 million passengers used the metro in 2021. Almost 50.2% among them used contactless travel cards. In 2020, only 44% of passengers used travel cards. The popularity of token tickets is declining. In 2021 only 24.8% of passengers bought them, in 2020 — 32%.

Metro passengers are increasingly paying for travel with bankcards and NFC devices. In 2019, 6% of passengers used these methods, and in 2021 — 12.3%.
