The National Bank will set the official exchange rate of 79 currencies

The National Bank of Belarus has decided to expand the list of foreign currencies to which it sets the official exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble. The Qatari rial has been added to the list of foreign currencies, Sputnik reported.

Thus, now the National Bank will set the official exchange rate of 79 foreign currencies. The official exchange rates of the Belarusian ruble against the US dollar, the euro and the Russian ruble are set according to exchange trading data. The official exchange rates of the Belarusian ruble to other foreign currencies are determined based on the cross-rates of the US dollar to these currencies.

Belarusian exports to Qatar amounted to almost 2 million US dollars in 2021, and about 490 thousand US dollars in incomplete 2022. Imports last year – 355 thousand US dollars; since the beginning of this year – about 46 thousand US dollars.

We also reported that according to the Minister of Economy, Belarus' GDP should grow by 3.8% in 2023, and Belarusians' incomes by 4%.
