The period of stay in Belarus for foreigners during coronavirus

Due to the rapid and all-round spread of coronavirus, a number of countries have closed their borders and suspended all transport communications, which has become a big problem for many people who are “stuck” abroad. Belarusfeed reports that more than 300 foreign citizens asked for extension of their stay in Belarus.

In July 2018, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus extended the stay in the country for foreigners without visa to 30 days. And for citizens of definite countries, this period was extended more to 90 days, on condition that they are registered in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

However, the closure of borders by a number of countries, as well as constant interruptions in transport caused many problems for foreign citizens who cannot return to their homes. More than 300 foreigners applied to the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request to extend their stay over 90 days.

The Ministry at the moment did not give official instructions in this regard.
