There are fewer of us in the country and more in Minsk. First results of the population census-2019

Today, the national statistical Committee reports on the first results of the 2019 census. As the figures show, in the country lives 9 413 446 people, more women (53%). More than 7 million Belarusians live in cities, while the number of rural population is decreasing, reports tut.by.

Now in the capital 2 018 281 people live, and in the country — 9 413 446 people. If the number of residents in Minsk and the Minsk region has increased, then in five regions, on the contrary, it has decreased. The Committee explains this by intra-republican migration.

The National statistical Committee also analyzed how many men and women live in Belarus: more than 4 million 351 thousand (46.2%) men and more than 5 million 61 thousand women (53.8%).

The census was held from 4 to 30 October 2019, and 95% of the country's population participated in it.
