Volunteer project is looking for friends for lonely elderly in Minsk

The Belarusian Association of Social Workers has launched a volunteer project "A friend is nearby". You can provide support to elderly Minsk residents who are deprived of social contacts.
The age of the volunteer doesn't matter: both students and seniors are accepted.

Volunteers will call their "foster grandparents" daily by phone at certain times to help them cope with loneliness. They will be able to support them in their daily activities, remind them to take medications, sometimes go for a walk together, they write on the BASW website.

Each volunteer will be able to pass an interview and training, get a curator and become part of a volunteer group. The organizers plan to hold joint trips and events. This will improve not only the physical health of the wards, but also their emotional state.

To become a friend for an elderly grandfather or grandmother, you need to fill in a form. For all questions, you can contact the curators by mail.
