What countries to visit during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022

Since 2021, many countries of the world and Europe have opened entry for foreign tourists, as well as let down Covid entry restrictions. Some countries have lifted all restrictions; some have retained the requirement for vaccination certificates or PCR tests. We have compiled a list of countries that have opened entry for tourists in 2022.

 

Slovenia let down all entry restrictions in 2022

Since February 19, vaccination certificates, certificates of recovery, tests and a health form are not required to enter the country. This applies to all foreigners.

 

Switzerland has opened for tourists, but not for everyone

Switzerland let down all Covid restrictions on entry from the EU and Schengen zone. From February 17, vaccination certificates, certificates of recovery, tests and a health form is no longer required to enter Switzerland from the EU and Schengen.

The changes do not apply to travelers from third countries. They can enter Switzerland only if they have a vaccination certificate with a vaccine approved by WHO or on special grounds.

Since February 17, the rule on wearing of masks and the provision of Covid certificates when visiting restaurants, bars and other public places is no longer mandatory. This rule still does not apply to public transport and medical facilities.

 

Latvia opens borders to everyone in March 2022

From March 1, people can enter Latvia:

  • tourists with a certificate of vaccination with an EMA-approved drug;
  • tourists with a certificate of recovery after illness in the EUDCC format;
  • tourists with a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours or an antigen test no older than 48 hours before departure.

 Also, filling out the Covidpas.lv electronic questionnaire and self-isolation are removed for everyone.

 

Entry to Bahrain for tourists 2022 

From February 20, all entry restrictions are lifted for all tourists. You no longer need to present vaccination certificates, certificates of recovery, tests, or undergo quarantine. It is also no longer necessary to fill out the health form and install special applications. It is enough to have a ticket and a visa to enter.

 

Entry to Greece 2022 

Since February 7, entry into Greece is allowed through the border checkpoints of Greece in any way and on any transport.

To cross the border, you will need a completed PLF form and a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours or an antigen test no older than 24 hours.

 

Austria opened entry for all foreigners in 2022

From February 22, the  3G rule is in effect for tourists entering the country: vaccinated, recovered or have a negative PCR test. It is possible to get to Austria if you have one of these sanitary documents.

 

Norway has opened for tourists from all countries

Since February 12, when entering Norway, you do not need a vaccination certificate, a certificate of recovery and a PCR test. Also, you no longer need to fill out health forms. The changes apply to tourists from all over the world.

The only exception is the entrance to Svalbard. The requirements for testing before entering Svalbard and after arrival will be maintained.

 

Tunisia has simplified the rules of entry for tourists

Since February 15, all vaccinated travelers are exempt from PCR testing to enter Tunisia.

Unvaccinated travelers are exempt from 5-day quarantine, but must have a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours or an antigen test no older than 24 hours before check-in to flight.

 

Sweden is open for travelers from the EU 

Since February 9, travelers from the EU, EEA and Switzerland are exempt from all sanitary requirements upon entry, including vaccination certificates, tests and quarantine.

The restriction on entry from other countries of the world remains in force until March 31, 2022.

 

Rules of entry to Australia 2022 

From February 21, entry is allowed in Australia for travelers who have completed a full course of vaccine approved by the TGA:

  • AstraZeneca
  • Pfizer
  • Moderna
  • Sinovac
  • Covaxin
  • Sinopharm-BIBP (for travelers of the age 60+)
  • Sputnik V
  • Novavax
  • Johnson & Johnson (1 dose)

Also, a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours or an antigen test no older than 24 hours before entry is required.

Unvaccinated tourists can enter only on special grounds and after applying for Travel Exemption.

 

Entry to Bali 2022 

Since February 4, entry to Bali is open for vaccinated travelers from all over the world. The isolation period for vaccinated people has been reduced from 7 to 5 days. On the 4th day, it is necessary to take a PCR test. If the result is negative, you can get out of quarantine on the 5th day.

Incompletely vaccinated travelers are sent to a 7-day quarantine.

A vaccination certificate and a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours are required to enter Bali.

 

Entry to Denmark is open to all tourists with a PCR test 

From February 1, unvaccinated and recovered patients must take a PCR test within 24 hours after arrival. Tourists from the EU and Schengen zone can take the test before entry.

Vaccinated and recovered tourists can enter the country without tests and quarantine. Moderna Janssen AstraZeneca, Covishield, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Pfizer/BioNTech, Novavax, Covishield, Covaxin, Sinovac, are currently among the vaccines approved by Denmark. Vaccination certificates of all countries are also recognized.

 

Azerbaijan has opened borders for tourists 

Since January 27, citizens of 67 countries of the world can enter Azerbaijan by air, subject to compliance with the requirements:

 

  • to have a vaccination certificate (with any vaccine recognized in the country of origin) or a certificate of recovery;
  • to have a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours before departure. 

 

Entry to UK 2022

Since February 11, travelers vaccinated with WHO-approved vaccines are exempt from quarantine and all tests (both before entry and upon arrival). They only need to fill out a PLF form no earlier than 48 hours before departure.

Unvaccinated tourists or vaccinated with vaccines not approved by WHO are exempt from mandatory quarantine. However, to enter England, they need to have a PCR test no older than 48 hours. It is also necessary to take one more test no later than on the 2nd day of arrival.

 

Cuba opens borders for tourists from 4 countries 

Travelers from Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Canada can enter Cuba without vaccination certificates and PCR tests. The only requirement is a completed D'viajeros form. 

The change applies only to travelers who fly to Cuba with tour operators and travel agents and only from Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Canada. There are no changes for independent tourists yet.

 

Mexico has opened entry for foreigners 

Since January 1, the country has lifted all Covid restrictions, including filling out the Vuela Seguro PLF form. Previously, having a form was the only condition for entering the country. Now travelers from any country can enter Mexico.

 

Georgia opens entry for unvaccinated tourists

Since March 1, the rules of entry to Georgia for foreign tourists are changing, the Belarusian Intercity tour company writes. Now travelers can visit country if they have a certificate of vaccination with any two—phase vaccine (single-phase only for Johnson & Johnson is allowed).

For unvaccinated tourists, a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours before crossing the border will be enough to enter Georgia. The previous requirement to take a PCR test on the third day of stay in the country from March is canceled.

 

Portuguese Madeira lifted all entry restrictions

Now tourists from any country can enter the island without tests and vaccination or recovery certificates, Visit Portugal writes. It is also not necessary to fill out the Madeira Safe online form. However, the government of the country advises to do this.

All covid restrictions on the island have been lifted only for entry. To visit restaurants, museums and other public places, you need to have a certificate of vaccination, a certificate of recovery or an antigen test no older than 7 days.
