What sanctions has the EU imposed?

The European Union has approved the introduction of sanctions against 40 officials in Belarus, tut.by reports. Alexander Lukashenko was not included in this list.

After the discussion of the current political situation in Belarus, the European Union summit in Brussels approved the imposition of sanctions against officials in Belarus. This list includes officials who, according to the European Union, are responsible for the falsification of the presidential elections in Belarus, as well as for the inhuman and cruel treatment of participants in peaceful protests. Alexander Lukashenko was not included in the list of people against whom the sanctions will be applied, since their imposition may become a reason for refusing to enter into dialogue with the opposition and for the release of political prisoners. Note that at the moment Alexander Lukashenko does not contact the Belarusian opposition (in particular, with the Coordination Council).
