Will roaming between Belarus and Russia be canceled?

The Commission on Information Policy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia plans to cancel telephone roaming between the countries from April 2, Sputnik reports. Roaming in the EAEU countries is planned to be canceled until 2025.

In November 2020, telecom operators on the territory of Belarus and Russia in a test mode reduced tariff rates for roaming. Testing new tariffs in roaming included reducing the interconnect rate from 30 cents to 1.5 cents per minute.

At the meeting of the commission, the parliamentarians paid it special attention, despite the fact that people are less and less dependent on telephone roaming, because communication is actively going on in messengers.

The cancellation of roaming between the countries is planned to coincide with the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.

The work on abolishing roaming in the Union State has been underway since 2017.
