Zero duty on the import of electric cars will be extended

The zero duty on the import of electric cars to the EAEU countries, which includes Belarus, is likely to be extended, Sputnik reported. Let us remind you that since October 1, the cost of charging electric cars has increased.

Duty-free import of a more environmentally friendly mode of transport in the EAEU countries was first introduced in May 2020 on the initiative of the Belarusian side. In March 2022, the zero rate was abolished in Russia, and in Belarus, the validity period of the zero rate was extended until the end of 2023.

If all parties support the decision to abolish the zero rate, then electric vehicles can be imported into the territory of the EAEU without customs duties even after 2023.
