The opening of the museum took place in 1966 and was connected with the 40th anniversary of the release of the first national film. The main goal of the museum is to preserve the heritage of the Belarusian cinema.
The museum regularly hosts permanent and temporary thematic exhibitions, as well as screenings of classics of Belarusian and foreign cinematography. In addition to popularizing the culture of cinema, the museum supports the preservation of the historical heritage in the field of Belarusian fine arts.
The poster of the film screenings can be found on the museum's website (see above).
