Astigmatism causes blurry vision regardless of distance. The eye is not perfectly round, its surface is not symmetrical, and it focuses light from one direction better than from others. As a result, vision becomes blurry. For example, an object will be seen more clearly from one direction than from others.

Nearsightedness, or myopia, is the most common cause of low vision in humans today. It usually does not lead to complete blindness, but it can significantly impede daily activities. The discrepancy between the strength of the optics and the size of the eyeball, in which the rays of light form an image before they reach the retina. And when they do get on it, the picture becomes blurry again. Unfortunately, no one in the world has been able to find the cause of myopia. It is likely that the problem does not lie in any one factor, but includes many different, at first glance, not even related to themselves. So, it is believed that increased visual stress, spending a small amount of time in the open air, the presence of myopia in parents can contribute to the appearance of such in children. Usually, the progression of myopia is detected during the first two decades of life. This is due to the fact that the main growth of the human eye is recorded precisely at this age. Currently, there are no effective methods for completely stopping the growth of the eye.

Glaucoma is the collective name for a group of diseases that damage the optic nerve and cause loss of vision. Glaucoma is generally a preventable form of vision loss and, if detected early, can be cured. In most cases, damage to the optic nerve in glaucoma is caused by increased intraocular pressure, which builds up the pressure of the fluid inside the eye, which compresses and damages the optic nerve. Intraocular pressure rises when the fluids produced in the eye lose the ability to leave the eye in their usual route, known as the open angle between the iris and the cornea. They accumulate in the eye, resulting in increased pressure. However, in the case of normal pressure glaucoma, the cause of the damage to the optic nerve is not always clear.

Farsightedness, otherwise called hyperopia, occurs when the cornea is flattened or when the eyeball is too short. These conditions prevent light rays entering the eye from refracting enough to focus on the retina. Instead, the images you see are focused behind the retina. For farsighted people, near objects appear more blurry than objects in the distance

Cataract is a disease in which the transparency of the lens is disturbed, which leads to a decrease in visual acuity. The name of this disease comes from the Greek word katarrháktes, which means waterfall. This is due to the views of ancient healers that the disease develops as a result of the draining of a cloudy liquid between the iris and the lens.

Do you need reading glasses? There is a possibility that you have presbyopia (senile farsightedness) − an anomaly of refraction of the eye, in which a person cannot see small print or small objects at close range.

Children's Clinic «Novoe Zrenie»

Each child is an individual who is treated with respect at the center. It is very important that the examination takes place in a friendly, child-friendly atmosphere. During the appointment, the doctor is not in a hurry, he tries in a playful way to determine how well the little patient sees, whether his eyes are level, and whether he needs the glasses that he has chosen.

The patient spends about one and a half to two hours with us - this is how long it takes to get all the information about your child's vision. Such a lengthy visit to the ophthalmologist can be exhausting for the patient and accompanying adults. However, staff patiently tries smiling friends with young patients, answer all the questions of their parents.

Young children rarely complain of insufficient vision, so you should pay attention to the following symptoms: the child does not follow moving objects, reacts only to voice and sound stimuli; the child does not show interest in pictures and children's books, in drawing and coloring; the child has constant horizontal swinging of the eyes like a pendulum (horizontal nystagmus) or vertical small movements of the pupils (vertical nystagmus); the appearance of a white glow of the pupil; constant redness of the eyes, shutting and rubbing the eyes; squinting one eye indoors or when going outside; deviation of the eyes from the straight point of fixation (periodic or constant); a turn of the face or a forced position of the head (tilt to the shoulder) - especially when watching pictures in books or cartoons on TV; asymmetry of the eyeballs, asymmetry in the size of the pupils; complaints of pain or pain in the eyes, lacrimation and photophobia.

A timely visit to an ophthalmologist will allow you to detect pathology and prescribe treatment, which will be aimed at restoring or developing high visual acuity in a small patient.
