A border between Belarus and Russia?

The Minister of Foreign Affair of Russia Sergey Lavrov commented on whether a border between Belarus and Russia will appear at the end of the pandemic, reports tut.by.

Sergey Lavrov claims that Russia does not see the point in introducing the border between the Union states (the Union Agreement was signed between Belarus and Russia in 1999). The measures to close the borders of Russia are caused by a critical situation with the coronavirus.

In addition, Russia hopes that at the end of the pandemic, Belarus will sign a visa agreement between the countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia received the authority to sign this agreement a year and a half ago, however, it is necessary that Belarus makes its decision. According to this agreement, foreign citizens with a Russian visa will be able to visit Belarus; and foreigners with a Belarusian visa – Russia.
