Agreement on the recognition of visas between Belarus and Russia is not yet in force
"Sobiray Rukzak" informs that the agreement on mutual recognition of visas between Belarus and Russia, which has been announced in early May, is not yet in force. The agreement allows foreigners to visit Russia if they have a Belarusian visa and vice versa.
On May 5, Belarusian border guards introduced temporary border control at the Belarusian-Russian border. This decision was due to the entry into force of the agreement on mutual recognition of visas.
However, according to the official explanation of the border administration of the Smolensk region in Russia, the agreement has not yet entered into force.
Foreigners with a Belarusian visa still have to obtain a visa to visit Russia and vice versa. This means that Belarusian visas are not recognized in Russia and vice versa.
