Belarus and Russia will develop cooperation in low-carbon energy

Belarus and Russia intend to develop cooperation in low-carbon energy production, Minsk-News writes. Hydrogen energy is also one of the promising areas of partnership between the two contries.

Belarus and Russia have already launched mechanisms to adapt their economies to the global energy transition. Energy-saving technologies are being introduced in the territories of both countries, digitalization is being developed, and harmful emissions into the atmosphere are being reduced.

How are Belarus planning to make the transition to low-carbon energy:

  • reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from stationary energy sources up to 7 million tons per year;
  • reduction of the share of natural gas in the production of heat and electricity to 60% by the end of 2025;
  • by 2025, the share of renewable energy sources in the total volume of fuel and energy resources will increase to 7%.
