Belarus is preparing to join UnionPay

Belarus is working on connecting to the Chinese UnionPay payment system, devby.io writes with reference to BELTA. The Finance Minister told the Belarus 1 TV channel that the work on connecting Belarus to Chinese systems will be completed soon.

Connecting Belarus to UnionPay will speed up the passage of payments, the return of revenue and tax revenues to the budget. It will also make it possible to receive revenue for exports to the Asian market immediately in yuan. This reduces risks and gives more guarantees.

Now UnionPay is supported in more than 170 countries and regions of the world — Belarus is not on the list yet. Cards of this payment system have become in great demand in Russia after Visa and Mastercard leaving the country.
