Belarus wants to create joint electricity market with Russia
According to the Minister of Energy of Belarus, a draft interstate agreement is being prepared, which will determine the rules for the operation of the common electricity market of Russia and Belarus, Sputnik reported.
The draft document has practically passed domestic procedures, and it will be sent to the Government for consideration in the near future. The combined electricity market should start operating from January 1, 2024.
From 2025, the combined electricity market of Belarus and Russia should be synchronized with the operation of the electric energy market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Two years later, an even deeper integration should take place, which implies an expansion of the membership.
Let us remind you that for 9 months of this year, the Belarusian trade turnover with the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization increased by 12%.
