Birch sap harvest began in Brest region

The southern forestry enterprises of the Brest region began to harvest birch sap. The mass harvesting will begin next week, BELTA writes.

This season, forestry enterprises of the Brest region plan to sell about 800 tons of sap to the population at a cost of BYN0.2 per 1 liter. Also, forestry enterprises have already received applications from processing enterprises for 3.5 thousand tons of birch sap. Canneries are among the main buyers.

The volumes of birch sap harvesting depend on the weather. Usually the harvesting period lasts from 2 to 5 weeks. Last year, forestry enterprises of the Brest region harvested more than 3.5 thousand tons of birch sap.
