Borders of Minsk city will not be expanded

The Minsk authorities do not plan to expand the existing borders of the city. Instead, emphasis will be placed on the development of satellite cities, Sputnik reported.

The President of Belarus has stated that no more than two million people should live in Minsk. Construction is underway in the city for those in need of better housing conditions. But there are no plans to expand the borders of Minsk, since it will not be convenient for citizens to live in a megalopolis.

The authorities plan to develop satellite cities: Zaslavl, Smolevichi, Rudensk. Already, people who are in line for preferential housing from the state are being offered to build housing without a queue in these populated cities.

A new park will open in Minsk in August.
