EDB experts identified what hinders the growth of Belarusian economy

In a new review, analysts of the Eurasian Development Bank note that the decline in GDP has slowed down in Belarus, as well as production and trade are growing. They also identified areas that hinder economic growth, Sputnik reported.

A decrease in the volume of cargo transportation by 30.1% compared to January-April 2022 continues to have a restraining effect on economic growth. Negative dynamics persists in the IT sector.

However, economic growth is expected to accelerate in the coming months. The positive dynamics of growth and industrial production volumes remain (+2.3%).

The EDB reminded that the annual inflation rate in Belarus decreased to 4.7% by the end of April.

However, in 4 months of 2023, Belarus' GDP decreased by 0.6%.
