Energy from the Belarusian NPP will be used for crypto mining

The Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said that the energy from the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant is going to be used in mining, electric transport and other projects. When the NPP is fully operational, it will generate 40% of the entire electric power industry of Belarus, Sputnik reported.

The energy from the station is going to be used in electric transport — there are already about 20 projects. In addition, it will be used for heating apartment buildings. Also, projects in the field of mining and energy storage for $2.5 billion have already been signed.

Currently, the Belarusian NPP generates 22% of the total electricity in the republic, and with the commissioning of the second power unit, its share in the country's energy balance will be 40%. As previously reported, the second unit is in a high degree of readiness. After its launch, the NPP will generate about 18 billion kWh per year.

May we remind you that Belarus ranks 25th in the list of countries in terms of the prevalence of cryptocurrencies.
