Exhibit of the Paleozoic era appeared at BSU museum
An employee of the Biological Faculty of BSU discovered a ten-centimeter trilobite shell in a decayed limestone boulder in Dobrenovo village of the Minsk region. Trilobites belong to a group of extinct marine arthropods that existed during the Paleozoic era, which ended more than 250 million years ago, the website of the Belarusian State University writes.
The found sample presumably originates from the Baltic region. It is not uncommon to find the remains of this species on Belarusian lands, but the new specimen is unique in its degree of preservation and integrity, which makes it possible to better imagine the real appearance of the disappeared animal.
You can see the new exhibit at the Zoological Museum of the Biological Faculty of the University from September 1. Address: Minsk, praspiekt Niezaliežnasci 4, Biological Faculty of BSU.
Recently we wrote that scientists of BSU are developing new materials for optical equipment.
